Hello,

Please tell me how to import the animation data (Point Cache) to MSP from 3DS. FBX model data is easy to import, but I can’t see how to import the animation data (.mc & .xml,Etc).

Normally I use maya, but may be we are going to work with a company who use 3DS MAX only, we are planning to use MSP for Render. So I should find a solution.

And let me know when will the exporter plug-in for 3DS MAX be released.

We currently have a Max exporter that is up and working internally that will be released with the next client version today.  Unfortunately we only have the compiled plugin for Max 2009 32bit for this release.  However we are compiling the other versions of the plugin this week and will have them posted for download sometime next week or the week after.

Also I forgot to mention that this Max exporter will be supporting models as well as vert cache animation exporting.

Hi,

Mach studio doesnt support importing animation data from fbx format, though it supports FBX import of static geomtry.

If you are trying to get animation to Machstudio,
please do the following

—get the latest 3dsMax-MachStudio exporter.
—Load the source 3dsmax file and Select the object that is animating.
—Do ‘export selected’ to sgpu formats (.gxb,.gab,.cam)
—In the export option, check vertex animation, and check the ‘export geometry’ and Export (this will produce a .gxb file)
—Repeat the exporting this time with the ‘Vertex animation’ checked and ‘export geometry’ unchecked (this will produce a .gab file)
—Load the .gxb file and the .gab file into Mach Studio.

1)
Please note that, if you are using point cache modifiers for your animated object, then it is better for you to delete temporarily any Physique or Skin Modifier below the point cache modifier, just before exporting.

2)
Also make sure that you have unhidden all relevant geometry before exporting. Mach studio exporter will only export unhidden objects.

hope this response helps you.
